Prince George attended the men’s singles final at Wimbledon with dad Prince William, mom Kate Middleton, and sister Princess Charlotte, where he made a rare public statement about his tennis skills.
The young prince and princess were guests in the Royal Box at Centre Court with the Prince and Princess of Wales on July 13, 2025. Although the 74-seat box is typically adults-only, an exception was made for Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Prince Louis was conspicuously absent, however, maybe due to his penchant for mischief.
George, who is almost 12, often attends sporting events with his family. He’s an active kid who enjoys playing and watching sports. This is not his first time attending Wimbledon — he first went to the iconic tennis tournament with his parents in 2022.
This year, Prince George made a rare public comment.
It’s not unusual for fans to see the young royals, but it’s not often that we hear them say anything to the media.
According to The Telegraph, the royals met with doubles champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool. During their conversation, Cash asked George about his tennis skills. The ever-humble tween answered, “I’m alright.”
“Alright” might be a bit of an understatement, though, since People previously reported that Prince George has played with tennis great Roger Federer. It may have been six years ago, but it says a lot that a little kid could even hit a ball on the same court as Federer.
The young royal loves sports.
Like his parents, Prince George is a huge sports fan, and he absolutely loves soccer. In fact, for his sixth birthday, he had a football (European football, that is) themed party. Like his dad and little brother, he’s an Aston Villa fan.
Of course, the whole family loves polo as well, with Prince William regularly taking part in charity polo cups. It probably won’t be long before we see Prince George joining his dad on horseback.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have a strained relationship with William’s brother, Prince Harry, but hopefully the kids will have an appreciation for the Invictus Games, since their uncle is very involved with the competition.
Whether it’s tennis, soccer, swimming, polo, rugby, or something else entirely, we can’t wait to see George get even more involved with sports.
