Katie Miller’s husband is definitely not the most popular person in the world, but she is his self-proclaimed “number one fan” anyway. Stephen Miller, who serves as White House deputy chief of staff for policy and President Donald Trump’s homeland security advisor, recently celebrated his 41st birthday on August 23, 2026.
His wife penned a lengthy birthday message to celebrate him. While some of her followers wished Stephen a happy birthday, some people criticized both Stephen and Katie in the comments.
In the birthday post, Katie called Stephen “my favorite person, the best dad, and my forever partner.”

Which seems like a pretty standard way of wishing your partner a happy birthday. But, of course, Katie’s husband happens to be a controversial Trump aide, so critics didn’t exactly read it as a normal, neutral birthday message for a loved one.
Elsewhere in her post, she praised her husband for his commitment to pursuing his “life’s dream.”
She wrote, “Watching @StephenM live his life’s dream with drive and determination every day inspires me, our children, and everyone who knows him. When we left the White House in 2021, Stephen knew he had unfinished business. Rarely do you get a chance to fulfill interrupted dreams, and he doesn’t take a second of this privilege for granted.”
She added, “Stephen never quits, never surrenders, and never gives up. He knew President Trump would win. Four little kids and the ability to change the world. These are the best days.”
In response, some critics told Katie that her husband is actually “evil” and “nasty,” among other things.

Meanwhile, those who support the Trump administration called Stephen a “national treasure” and a “patriot,” so clearly reactions were mixed. But Katie addressed one article in particular. The Daily Beast called her birthday post “cringe” and captioned an X post about it with, “The MAGA podcaster is her husband’s number one fan.”
Katie reacted to the caption, writing, “If your wife isn’t your number one fan, you need a new wife.”
But critics also had a lot to say about Katie’s reaction.

They felt that she was missing the point. It’s not that critics have a problem with the concept of someone being their husband’s number one fan. They have a problem with who Katie’s husband is.
Being your partner’s number one fan? Cool. No issues there. Most of the time. The concept of being Stephen Miller’s number one fan, however…
“If you’re the biggest fan of Stephen miller, you need help,” one person wrote in response to Katie’s post. “You need better taste in men!” someone else commented.
Another critic told Katie that this is “not the flex you think it is” because of who she’s married to. “Your husband is grotesquely vile,” a fourth person wrote. “As are you.”
Meanwhile, those who jumped to Katie’s defense praised her for “normalizing” marriage by being her husband’s biggest fan. They claimed that Katie was offering great marriage advice. Conservative activist Riley Gaines was one of the people who reacted to The Daily Beast article. “What is this headline?” she wrote. “Of course she is (his number one fan). Thats how marriage works.”
