Collecting things is a pretty common hobby, but obviously, what people collect and why they collect that particular thing tends to vary. Some items (like antiques, trinkets, and vinyl records) are more popular among collectors than others, and pop star Kesha just recently revealed that she has a pretty unconventional collection: a significant number of other people’s teeth.
If you’re weirded out by that, Kesha probably doesn’t care — especially if you’re a straight man. During an appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, she admitted that the fact that her collection “freaks out straight men” has motivated her to keep her collection growing.

She actually said that teeth can be found “all over” her home, though she keeps them “in little jars” rather than just scattered about. Though scaring straight men with her collection seems to be an added bonus for her, she explained that she actually started collecting teeth because of an interaction with one of her fans.
“The teeth started when I became obsessed with my fans and then someone was like, ‘My child lost their teeth,’ and I was like, ‘Can I have them?'” Kesha recalled on the podcast.
She used the teeth to make “wild” jewelry, and then her collection started to grow.
At this point, fans have given her more than a thousand teeth. She has used some of them to make jewelry. “I made a necklace, an earring and then a belt and then a crown,” she said. “Then I just started collecting them because it kind of freaks out straight men.”
While a lot of people would probably find her collection a bit strange, she explained that she’s finding a use for something that would otherwise just be thrown away. “Give them to me. Can I actually have them? It’s not a drill, not a joke,” she said. “I am a pop star and I need your teeth.”
Reactions were extremely mixed.
In the eyes of some fans, Kesha is basically the tooth fairy, and although this interest of hers is not a very popular one, they don’t see any harm in it. “Love her for this,” one person wrote on Reddit. “Weird girls are the best!”
Someone else simply said, “I support women’s wrongs.” A few people argued that collecting teeth isn’t actually all that strange. But some commenters weren’t sure how they felt about it.
“I’m stuck on this one,” one commenter stated. “It’s between ‘that’s creepy’ and ‘wait, is this creepy?’ and ‘it feels like it maybe should be creepy but isn’t really’. It is definitely weird though lol.”
Others were clearly bothered by it. “I miss who I was before I read this,” another commenter wrote.
And some people still have questions, as they feel they don’t actually understand how or why Kesha started collecting teeth in the first place. She previously mentioned her tooth collection during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, explaining that the collection actually isn’t limited to human teeth.
“My cats had to get their little teeth taken out because they were, I don’t know, they’re little kitty wisdom teeth,” she said. “I collect those too. I’m like the tooth fairy.”
