During the awkward interview, BBC News presenter Caitríona Perry asked 54-year-old Kid Rock about his inauguration day plans. After sharing that he would have “a good time,” he asked the reporter about her plans for the day. Caitríona explained that she was working in “chilly conditions” and would be on air for hours. “I don’t think I’ll have anywhere near as fun a day as you have planned for yourself there,” she told the musician.
In response, Kid Rock said, “I mean, I can’t see you right now so I don’t know what you look like.” Responding politely, Caitríona said, “Well, I look like I’m ready to hit the slopes. I can tell you I’m in full-on ski gear with my hat, gloves, the whole thing, ready to rock because you’ve got to be wrapped up against the elements, don’t ya?”

Then, Kid Rock used the interview as an opportunity to ask the reporter out during the live broadcast. “I love to go skiing,” he told her. “You sound sexy, you want to go with me?” At that point, Caitríona paused before quickly wrapping up the conversation. “Well, we won’t get into that right here,” she said. “We’re doing no skiing today, we’ve got a day of broadcasting to do. But Kid Rock, thank you so much for joining us here on BBC News, enjoy your day.”

Several X (formerly Twitter) users shared clips of the uncomfortable flirting attempt. In response, one person wrote that the interview was “embarrassing to listen” to. A second person on X said the clip was evidence that Kid Rock is “one of the most cringeworthy rockers on the planet.” Others called him out for being “creepy” and “pathetic” and accused him of sexual harassment.
Kid Rock performed at a presidential inauguration event in Washington, DC on Sunday, January 19. During an interview with Fox News’ Fox and Friends Weekend, Kid Rock described a “mind-blowing” conversation he allegedly had with Trump ahead of the inauguration event. According to Kid Rock, Trump called him and asked, “Did the Secret Service really tell you that you can’t use strippers [during your performance]?” He also claimed that Trump asked him about moving the inauguration indoors.
