Little Girl Suddenly Can’t Walk, Doctors Find Something In Her Hair That May Explain Why

Jessica Griffin was a hardworking single mother raising her 5-year-old daughter Kailyn. When Kailyn was just a few months old, her father tragically died in a horrific motorcycle accident.

When she was little, Kailyn didn’t really think about where her dad was, but when she grew older, she noticed a photograph of her parents in their living room and asked her mom who the man in the picture was.

“That’s your daddy, honey. His name was Fred and I know you would have loved him as much as I loved him,” Jessica explained to her daughter.

Even though it had been difficult raising her young daughter all on her own, Jessica always found herself grateful for her nearby friends and family who all acted as her support system throughout her grieving process.

After taking a few years off work, Jessica decided to head back to work at a major children’s publishing house as an editor. On a random weekday morning, as they both getting ready to leave the house, Kailyn came downstairs and suddenly collapsed to the ground.

According to WBAL News, Kailyn “lost the ability to walk and talk … after contracting tick paralysis from a bite to her scalp.” Jessica noticed a tick in her daughter’s hair that morning when she began to brush it. She wasn’t exactly sure what was going on with her daughter, but Jessica knew she needed to take Kailyn to the hospital immediately.
