Over the past week, Martha Stewart has shared multiple awe-inspiring photos from her recent trip. The businesswoman celebrated the holidays in Namibia and posted several photos and videos of the animals she saw during her vacation. While many fans loved seeing Martha’s photos of giraffes, rhinos, and elephants, a photo of Martha herself garnered the most attention.
On December 29, 2024, Martha posted several snaps where she posed in front of rock formations in western Namibia. Fans quickly noticed a strange detail in the photos: Martha’s hand appeared to be missing.
“Martha, where is your hand?” one person asked on the Instagram post.
Another fan accused Martha of using Photoshop to manipulate her photos: “NO left hand/arm?? Photoshop. Shame.”
“Where is your other hand?” a third fan questioned.
Though some fans simply commented on how Martha’s outfit matched the rock formations, others couldn’t get over how “mysterious” her left arm looked.

Martha has not yet offered an explanation for her seemingly missing hand, but some of her fans tried to explain why the photos looked a bit odd. Jumping to her defense, some of them suggested that the way Martha posed for the photos might’ve created an optical illusion.
“Seems like the rock she’s leaning on is hidden by the rock that’s visible in the picture,” one fan wrote. “Cool optical illusion!!”
Another fan had a similar interpretation and said that Martha’s hand appeared to be “behind the rock,” while others remained convinced that Martha’s hand went missing due to “bad photoshop.”
In the caption for her photos, Martha described the backdrop as “beautiful, mysterious and eternally remote.”
Before departing on her trip, Martha shared several photos from a festive gathering she hosted for staff members at her farm.
“I always enjoy entertaining during the holidays,” Martha wrote on December 21. “Yesterday I hosted a lovely gathering for the hardworking staff at my farm.” In a follow-up post, she included photos of the delectable food prepared for her holiday gathering. In addition to ham and biscuits, caviar and brioche toast, she served her party guests her “always-requested egg nog.”
