On November 27, 2017, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement to the world. Harry proposed to Meghan during a quiet night at home when Meghan was roasting a chicken for dinner. Harry partnered with Cleave & Company to design a special engagement ring for Meghan.
The ring’s center stone is a cushion-cut diamond from Botswana. It is framed by two side stones from Princess Diana’s jewelry collection. Meghan loves it so it was surprising that she was spotted without it on Tuesday September 12, 2023, at the Invictus Games in Germany.
Meghan joined Harry for the sixth iteration of the games, aimed at uplifting wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women through competitive sport. She was first seen attending a party for family and friends on Tuesday. She was seen again the following day at the wheelchair basketball tournament.
Meghan is not wearing her ring for one simple reason: One of the stones came loose so it is being serviced.
"It's beautiful, and he designed it, it's incredible," Meghan gushed about it in 2017.

Meghan still wore her wedding band at the games. It is made of pure Welsh gold, which is traditional for the British royal family. She was also wearing an eternity ring that she has been sporting since 2019. Eternity rings typically feature diamonds around the entire band and are given to a spouse to mark a big occasion, such as the birth of a child or anniversary.
