What to Know
When Donald Trump first became president, his son Barron was just 10 years old. Understandably, Melania Trump tried her best to keep her son out of the spotlight during this time. While she hasn’t totally ditched the mama bear reputation, she recently revealed that Barron is more involved in politics now that he’s older. Barron is now 19 and is a student at New York University. But according to Melania, he also played a pretty important role in his dad’s campaign — by sharing his podcast recs.
Trump appeared on several different podcasts during his 2024 presidential campaign.
At the time, people noticed that his campaign strategy seemed drastically different compared to 2016. Some people even questioned why the now-president chose to appear on so many podcasts, including Logan Paul’s Impaulsive, Theo Von’s This Past Weekend, and Joe Rogan’s the Joe Rogan Experience. These podcasts mainly appeal to men, especially younger men. The pattern was actually so obvious that Forbes dubbed it “Trump’s Bro Podcast Tour.”
Apparently, Barron was the one who made this happen. During a recent appearance on Fox News’ The Five, Melania revealed that Barron, at age 18, “was very involved in the campaign.” She explained, “He gave him all of the ideas, who [his dad] needs to talk to, all of these YouTubers and, you know, podcasts. So, he was really a smart mind behind it.”
She touched on how Barron’s involvement has changed now that he’s older.
Melania might still be feeling pretty protective even though her son is older now. She didn’t say much else about Barron, other than that she’s proud of him. “He’s an incredible young man,” she said. “He understands now. He’s involved. He knows what’s going on in the world, he talks with his dad, he talks with me.”
Since Barron tends to stay out of the limelight, people have long speculated about him. Though Melania’s comments confirmed that Barron helped his dad decide which podcasts to appear on, people already suspected that might’ve been the case. Previously, ABC News’ John Santucci said Barron recommended podcasts that he himself listens to, with a particular focus on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast.
People have also wondered if Barron has been involved in Trump’s social media strategy during his second presidency. Still, not much is known about Barron, but a report from the New York Times recently reported that he’s a fan of Andrew Tate, a misogynistic influencer who has been accused of rape and human trafficking.
