Mom Goes To Court For Driving Infraction, Girl Tells Judge One Thing That Changes His Mind

Single mother Margaret Prior was no stranger to experiencing hardship. After the birth of her daughter, Margaret’s husband decided he wanted a different life and left the pair to do life on their own.

When she was just 6 years old, Margaret’s daughter, Beatrice, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. When Margaret received this life-changing news, she felt overwhelmed because this kind of health diagnosis required pricey medications and regular doctors' appointments.

On top of everything else, Margaret received a notice to appear in court for a traffic violation. She had been ordered to pay a fine of $100, which wouldn’t seem like a lot of money to most people, but it felt like a fortune to Margaret who counted every dollar.

When Margaret and Beatrice walked into the courtroom that day, Margaret took a swift look around her and noticed that several people were sitting down because they likely pitied her situation. She was hoping that the judge would feel that same way.

As it turned out, Margaret received the driving infraction when she went to the pharmacy to pick up Beatrice’s diabetes medication. She jumped a curb and parked haphazardly to get into the drugstore quickly, and when she returned to her vehicle, she saw a parking ticket sitting on her windshield.
