Parenthood is not easy, especially in those first beginning moments. When twins are involved, it can be double the stress. One mom took to TikTok to confess she and her husband might have mixed up their identical twin girls at birth in their sleep-deprived state.
Nicole Giamundo and Jordon Smith picked up their girls, Adalynn and Nora, out of their bassinets to get them dressed. The bassinets were labeled to help them identify the babies. They then couldn’t remember who came out of where. Thankfully, it all seemed to work out in the end.
Nicole’s TikTok has gone viral with over 7.2 million views. She spoke to People magazine about it. She is thankful her girls, who are now 10 years old, are OK with the final results. She found comfort in other twin parents relating to her story.
Nicole and Jordan were sleep-deprived in the hospital after the girls’ birth. "We couldn't recall which bassinet we had taken them from, and that was our way of keeping track of them," Nicole confessed. "I immediately panicked, realizing how unprepared we truly were to have twins."

To this day, Jordan and Nicole have no idea if they mixed up the girls that day. The babies were also wearing hospital bracelets, but those did not have names on them. They often get asked if they have ever mixed up the girls and this is the honest answer.
"This is something we are asked about all the time," Nicole stated. "The No. 1 question we get when people find out we have twins is if we have mixed them up." She felt it was time to tell the whole truth.
Both Adalynn and Nora are happy with the results. Nicole was honest with them about what might have happened. The girls both believe they received the correct name and couldn’t imagine having their twin’s moniker.
"I did not expect them to have those reactions," Nicole stated. "They both were glad they weren’t the other which made my heart happy because that means they love who they are, and that’s the most important thing to me as a mom. I want them to love who they are, I want them to not wish they were someone else.”
Nicole is happy to have found a like-minded community on TikTok. It makes her feel like she is not alone in this crazy twin-parenting thing. "The number of people who have gone through the same thing with their twins, or twins who now question if they were mixed up, was fun to read and interact with," she explained.
To this day, it is still hard for Nicole and Jordan to tell their girls apart. "Nora used to have a little red dot on her nose when she was younger, and that was how their teachers told them apart. As she got older, that went away," Nicole stated. "They have slightly different voices, so when they talk, I can tell them apart. But there are more times than not I have to really look at them." The girls have even tricked their teachers at school before.
