On Sunday April 7, 2024, county music star Morgan Wallen was arrested in Nashville, Tennessee. He was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He was required to post a $15,250 bond. The incident occurred at Eric Church's new bar and live music joint, Chief's, which is on Broadway, at the heart of the city's entertainment district.
Morgan allegedly threw a chair from a rooftop bar, six stories up. The chair happened to land right next to a police car. Officers investigated and went into the venue to find out who was behind the flying object.
A source spoke to People magazine about their concerns over Morgan’s drinking. "Morgan is generally a nice, fun person to hang out with, but when he gets going he doesn't know when to stop," they stated. "Morgan and alcohol is a problem and it's been a problem that keeps coming back around."
This is not the first time Morgan has been arrested due to alcohol’s influence. In 2020 he was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. That time, the incident occurred at Kid Rock's Honky Tonk, also in Nashville. Morgan apologized on Twitter. In the end, these charges were dropped.

In 2021, Morgan found himself in hot water again. A video surfaced of him using the N-word while out for a drunken night on the town with friends. As a result, he went to treatment for 30 days. He reportedly stopped drinking for a while.
Morgan’s lawyer issued a statement about his client's current legal troubles. "He is cooperating fully with authorities," Worrick Robinson confirmed. Three days prior to his arrest, Morgan began the 2024 portion of his One Night at a Time World Tour in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Morgan is scheduled to headline the Stagecoach festival in California at the end of April 2024. He is then supposed to perform in Nashville at Nissan Stadium on May 2 and 3. His next court appearance is also on May 3. Time will tell if he can make everything work as planned. He also is in the process of opening his own drinking establishment called This Bar.
Morgan’s rebellious nature was learned early in life. "I've not ever been the one to follow the rules as much as some people," he told People in 2021.
He grew up as a child of a preacher and didn’t love the expectations that small town life thrust upon him. “They expect you to behave a certain way, and if you don't, they scold you,” he explained. “I absolutely hated that growing up, and I think a lot of my tendencies come from that."
