Bride Refuses To Let In-Laws Visit During Honeymoon So She Can Have Tons Of Sex

Everyone knows what goes down during a honeymoon. Depending on one’s openness, perhaps this is a topic to avoid discussing with your future in-laws. One bride found this out the hard way.

Her in-laws wanted to visit her and her husband during their honeymoon. She did not want this to happen. She made a harmless joke about why and now her in-laws are offended and worried about her sexual appetite. She took to Reddit to see if she took things too far.

It might be a cultural difference.

This bride-to-be loves her in-laws and did not mean to offend them. “My fiancé and I (I’m 26, he’s 28) are taking an 8 day honeymoon in Brazil, which is where he is originally from,” she began. “This trip has been in the works for a long time, and a few weeks ago I learned that his parents were hoping to stop by and visit us during our honeymoon and even asked to stay with us (we have rented a 3 bedroom place near a beach) for 2 of the nights.”

The future married couple are on the same page.

Thankfully, both her and her future husband agreed on this and communicated it to his family. “I said absolutely not, and my husband agreed. He told them no, that it’s because we want our privacy,” she continued. “His parents, who I have grown very close to, sent me a separate text asking, in a lighthearted way (I thought!), if it was really a big problem and if I agreed with him, and I said yes, I did agree.”

The mother-in-law would not let it go.

The mother-in-law persisted. “His mom asked me why, and I was honest — I said I want to be able to be open and free with him with without thinking about houseguests,” she continued. “She said 'so this is about sex?' I thought she was still being lighthearted, and I replied 'if I’m being honest, I’m going to [expletive] hIs brains out in every room of that house.' No response.”

It's become an issue.

The bride did not mean to offend anyone, but feelings were hurt. “So, this has become a whole thing. My mother in law thinks I’m disrespectful, my father in law thinks I’m a sex monster of some kind, my husband thinks it was way too far of me,” she concluded.

She wants to know if she should apologize.

Honeymoons are not the place for in-laws.

Most of the bride’s fellow Reddit users did not believe she was in the wrong. Everyone agreed it was a bit weird her in-laws wanted to be on her honeymoon.

“I think it's hilarious, and I probably would have done the same thing,” commented one user.

Here is a warning.

One user gave an ominous warning about the woman’s potential future.

"My mother's parents accompanied my parents on their honeymoon (I expect they paid for it too)," the user shared. "My mother's parents were a continual presence in my parents' marriage, continually undermining and overruling and emasculating my father."

Some users think the future bride should watch her mouth.

Some users did express that the original poster might have taken things too far. They did not think she was an a–hole but did think she needed to watch what she says.

"I wouldn't call your response 'light-hearted,'" commented one person. "You chose to be a bit vulgar, and sometimes that comes with the social consequences."

Sometimes we all get it wrong.

Some Redditors think everyone is a little bit wrong here.

“Your response was definitely a little TMI and you should apologize for being so explicit,” one commenter advised. “However, it’s insane to me that your in-laws would think it’s okay for them to come to your honeymoon.”

Perhaps to keep the peace in the family, the bride could apologize. She now knows her mother-in-law does not like sexual jokes. Let’s hope the family can move past this bump in the road.
