Working parents know the importance of planning ahead. Kate Middleton and Prince William are no exception. They have already begun to outline their 2024 itineraries. They have grand plans for both their private family lives and their professional working royal lives. They want to make it a great year.
This doesn’t mean Kate and William won’t close out 2023 strong. They will spend some time with Kate’s side of the family, which includes a new nephew named Inigo. They will also celebrate New Year's Eve together.
On the domestic front, Kate and William will start the new year out by getting the kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, back in the swing of school. Prince George will most likely be attending boarding school soon. It is believed the couple is deciding between William's alma mater Eton College or Kate’s alma mater Marlborough.
On the professional front, it is believed that the Prince and Princess of Wales will take an international work trip. Their destination will be Rome, Italy. Kate did not travel for work in 2023 but William visited Poland and Singapore. In Poland, he spent time with refugees on the Ukrainian border and in Singapore he participated in the Earthshot Prize awards.

Professionally, Kate and William stay in “clear lanes” according to a palace spokesperson. William will focus on his Homewards initiative and later in the year the Earthshot Prize. He is working to end homelessness and promote environmentalism. Kate will focus on her "Shaping Us" campaign, which champions early childhood development.
Even though Kate and William have different areas of focus, they do encourage each other and take pride in their spouse’s accomplishments. “They’re extremely supportive of each other and each other’s work,” a palace insider told People. “William takes huge pride in what Kate’s achieving from an early years perspective and likewise, she’s a huge follower in what the prince has done this year on Homewards and Earthshot.”
Kate and William also team up to support King Charles and Queen Camilla. In 2023, they helped welcome the South Korean president. They also help host the diplomatic corps at Buckingham Palace. Kate donned the Lover's Knot tiara for the special annual occasion.
Kate’s “Shaping Us” campaign officially launched in January 2023, but Kate did her homework long before that. Its 2024 focus will be on how businesses can help early childhood development. A business task force was formed in 2023 so it will put plans in action during the new year.
A source close to Kate sang her praises. “She was studious and really took her time to understand the topic and really think about how she can take early years and awareness of the early years to the next level across all of society,” they explained. “That will take her on through 2024 and continue to bang that drum. She is unequivocal about that continuing way, way into the future.”
