While filming an episode of The View on June 10, the daytime talk show's cohosts were not expecting to see actor Ryan Reynolds sitting in the audience. Cohost Whoopi Goldberg felt that she had to ask why the Deadpool actor was there — and his answer was extremely sweet.
"You never know what's going on here at The View," Whoopi said on the show, adding that sometimes "you look over and then you go, 'Oh, snap! There's Ryan Reynolds.'" Speaking to Ryan directly, Whoopi asked, "Just out of curiosity … how come?"
Before answering, Ryan made a comment about how sitting in the audience is "way less stressful" compared to sitting alongside the cohosts.
He then explained that his mom was in town visiting her grandkids. She lives in Vancouver, Canada, and mentioned that it was "her dream" to go to The View, Ryan said.

Ryan then explained how he helped his mom achieve this dream. "I try to do what she says, because you don't know what she's capable of," Ryan joked. "Unspeakable violence my whole life."
Because he "didn't want to taste the back of her hand," he joked, he told his mom that they would go to The View.
Ryan said he "made a call" and "told them 'I'm Blake [Lively]'s husband,'" joking that dropping his wife's name made it easier to get seats at the show.
He added that it's possible that his mom thought she could be on her favorite show, The View, alongside the cohosts rather than in the audience.
His mom laughed at the suggestion, but she was later invited to sit with the cohosts in Whoopi's spot.
Ryan's mom told the cohosts that she watches the show "every day" and that it was being recorded at her house in Vancouver while she was out of town.
At the end of the show, when Ryan's mom was invited to sit in Whoopi's spot, Whoopi stood behind her as she said, ""Have a great day, everyone, and take a little time to enjoy the view."
