In July 2024, Savannah Chrisley spoke at the Republican National Convention. The Chrisley Knows Best alum has also used social media to make her support for president Donald Trump clear — including to share the photos that she’s taken while posing with Trump.

But along the way, Savannah has found that speaking out about her political beliefs and vocally supporting Donald Trump has impacted her career in a negative way. During an exclusive interview with People, Savannah, 27, said, “I lost some deals when I came out politically on why I stood for what I stood for.”
The former reality TV star realized that sharing her political beliefs could also have an impact on her family. Since her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, are currently in prison for bank fraud and tax evasion, she is the legal guardian of her niece Chloe, 12, and brother Grayson, 18.

At first, she was faced with a difficult question: “Do I stand for what I believe in, or do I feed my family?” she told People. “It should never be that way and unfortunately, it was,” she added.
Though she “lost some deals” due to her political beliefs, she still believes that being outspoken “was worth it.” She told People that she became more politically engaged and informed after her parents’ arrest. Prior to her parents’ arrest, Savannah admittedly thought “bad people go to prison.” Now, she says she realizes “how broken” the criminal justice system is.
Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted in November 2022. They plan to seek pardons from President Trump. Jay Surgent, an attorney for the Chrisleys, told NBC the couple believes Trump might pardon them “as a result of the unfair treatment they received in the criminal justice system.”
Todd is serving a 12-year sentence. Julie is serving seven years.
