Cindy was a hardworking server at one of Canada’s top restaurants. The dining establishment had been awarded two Michelin stars and the customers expected only top quality meals due to its reputation and accolades.
Even though Cindy worked as a server, she had always dreamed of being able to get in that kitchen and work as a chef. She had been attending culinary school and her job at the restaurant allowed her to get some experience and pay for her education.
One day when Cindy was making her way to work, she noticed a kind-looking homeless man sitting nearby. As she watched him, she noticed that he never appeared to ask anyone for money as he simply greeted every person who passed him with a smile.
When Cindy went to work that day, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of empathy for the unhoused gentleman sitting just a few feet away from their fine dining establishment. She didn’t know what else she could do to help him besides sneak some food out of the kitchen when no one else was watching as she imagined he might be hungry.
Even though Cindy started to feel guilty about what she was doing, she also felt like she was helping to close the wide gap between the rich and the less fortunate like the homeless man who just needed a little kindness.
