It's not easy being a parent. There are a thousand different decisions to make on a daily basis with no clear-cut answers. One of these conundrums for dads is what bathroom to bring their young daughters into when out and about.
Brothers Andrew Loffa and Michael Colletti found out they had different styles when at Walt Disney World with their daughters. Andrew, who works as a radio host and is also known as DJ Drewski, was inclined to go into the men's room, while Michael preferred the women's restroom. Andrew took to TikTok to continue the debate. His post soon went viral and Today had a parenting expert weigh in on the situation.
Andrew doesn't feel comfortable invading women's private spaces. That is why he chose the men's bathroom. Michael thinks women's bathrooms are better because they are typically cleaner. He always makes sure to announce his presence so he doesn't scare anyone.
Dr. Deborah Gilboa, a parenting and youth development expert, spoke with Today about the issue. “If the men’s room is a little bit dirtier, so what? We don’t assume that little boys are in danger from coming in contact with men’s room germs,” she explained. “And if you’re going to be standing outside the stall or in there with her, she’s fine.”

There are exceptions to every rule. Sometimes men's rooms don't have changing tables. In that case, it is OK to use the women's bathroom if the child is in diapers.
Some users pointed out in the comments that they don't want their daughters to see men at the urinals. Others had workarounds for this.
“My dad used to pick me up, and I would bury my head in his shoulder, covering my eyes, and he would announce in the men’s bathroom that he was bringing his daughter in," one user advised.
