89-Year-Old Sophia Loren Undergoes Emergency Surgery After A Scary Fall At Her Home

Italian actress Sophia Loren, 89, recently had to undergo an emergency surgery after falling in her home. She broke several bones after falling in her bathroom at her home in Geneva, Switzerland. Fractures included her hip and femur.

A post to her restaurant's Instagram page shared more details into the incident. "A fall at her home in Geneva today caused Ms Loren hip fractures. Operated with a positive outcome, she will now have to observe a short period of recovery and follow a road to rehabilitation."

"Thankfully everything worked out for the best and the Lady will be back with us very soon," the post continued. "The whole team at Sophia Loren Restaurant takes this opportunity to wish her a speedy recovery. #sophialoren @sophialorenrestaurant.”

The actress was set to open her fourth restaurant in Bari, Italy, on September 26, 2023. She also was looking forward to receiving honorary citizenship from the city, but as of now, future engagements have been canceled.
