Love stories come in all shapes and sizes, and for one couple in Wisconsin, it unfolded in a most unexpected and heartwarming way. Troy Goldschmidt, with the help of the Eau Clair Police Department, orchestrated a unique proposal that turned a routine traffic stop into a moment they will cherish forever. Officers Maggie Andersen and Josh Miller went above and beyond their call of duty, surprising the couple and making the proposal a truly unforgettable experience.
Troy’s idea for the unconventional proposal sparked from a previous positive encounter with the Eau Claire Police Department. Several months prior, the police had assisted Troy’s now-fiancée, Moriah, in finding her lost wallet. Grateful for their help and touched by the officer’s kindness, Troy collaborated with them to create a proposal that would stand out from the ordinary.
When the officer pulled over the couple like he was asked to, he told Troy that his ID wasn’t pulling any information up. You can see Moriah in the passenger seat looking as confused as ever, which makes this secret plan play out even better. You can clearly tell she has zero idea what is going on. The officer then asked Troy to step out of the car.
Shortly after Troy left the vehicle, the other officer, Maggie Andersen, asked Moriah if she could step out of the car as well. The events started to make Moriah nervous, when Officer Josh Miller started to put him in handcuffs. The next moments were beautifully captured on the officer’s body camera preserving the genuine surprise and joy that unfolded during the proposal.
As Moriah is standing in front of Maggie Andersen facing her, you can see Troy with his hands behind his back and then getting down on one knee behind her. The unique proposal left Moriah both surprised and overjoyed and probably a little relieved! Just to show how awesome these officers were, neither of them were on duty that day! They got in their uniforms and patrol cars on their day off to help Troy with his proposal!
