Man Suggests Trip To Costa Rica On 3rd Date, They End Up Getting Stranded For 79 Days

Can you imagine getting stuck on a tropical island with someone who you’ve only been on three dates with? Well, that happened, and the two people involved lived to tell the tale.

This video posted by the Tamron Hall Show shares the story of two 20-somethings who decided on a whim to venture to Costa Rica on their third date in March 2020 and ended up getting stuck there for nearly three months.

Matt Robertson and Khani Le visited the talk show to discuss their experience and how it all was chronicled in a Netflix documentary called Longest Third Date.

Khani explained that the pair met on a dating app and ended up going on their first date a couple of months after they initially matched. They had a lot of fun together that night and soon found themselves joking about visiting a tropical locale for their third date.

When the pair got on the plane, they discovered that it was basically empty. They were able to land in Costa Rica but were soon told that they had to make their way home because everything was closing up due to the pandemic.

Things took an interesting turn when the pair found themselves basically stranded due to all of the flight cancellations. During their stay, Matt would get out his camera to record what they were up to, but he never expected that it would one day turn into a Netflix documentary.

“Usually I would document my travels, but it would just go up on my YouTube [as] a little travel vlog. I never thought … more people like this would see it,” Matt explained.
