Sometimes, you just can’t help but express your happiness. This was the case for Patrick Hartmann when he discovered his wife McKenna was having a boy. It just so happened that Patrick and McKenna were in a public place and slightly startled their fellow restaurant patrons. McKenna caught the whole thing on video.
Patrick and McKenna believed they were having a girl because their extended family has more females and they are already parents to a 2-year-old girl. They decided to do a simple sex reveal by cutting a cake when out to dinner with family. Little did they know.
Patrick could not wait for McKenna to cut into the cake, so he took things into his own hands. When he saw the blue center, he hopped to his feet, hooted, and hollered. He even hit the table, which caused a glass to break and spill on his father-in-law.
McKenna calms him down and he gives her a kiss. He apologizes to the restaurant explaining: “It’s a boy!”
"The reaction just came naturally. I feel like I need a boy to be able to keep up with our little girl Maverick,” Patrick explained. Both he and McKenna were overjoyed.
"When we cut into that cake and saw blue, it was such a surreal moment,” McKenna shared. "I was just in pure shock and so incredibly happy at the same time!"

Thankfully, the rest of the restaurant was forgiving once they understood what was going on. "The whole restaurant was very confused and concerned until Patrick announced that it was a boy, and everyone started applauding. It's something I'll never forget,” McKenna recalled.
She even admits she thought twice about doing the sex reveal in public. "I remember saying to my mom, who coordinated the reveal for us, 'What if it is a boy? Do you think it's a good idea to do this in public?'" she stated. "We both just laughed about it because I wasn't too concerned."
