Publisher Of The Sun Files High Court Legal Action Over Kate Middleton Farm Shop Video

The publisher of The Sun has filed a lawsuit against British TV outlets ITV and ITN over the video of Kate Middleton shopping at a farm store in Windsor. The footage, which was obtained by The Sun, shows Kate and Prince William out in public after her surgery, during a time when speculation online was peaking after she'd been absent from public life for several weeks. The High Court legal action to the Intellectual Property and Enterprise Court was filed by News Group Newspapers Limited against ITV and ITN on April 22, 2024.

"ITV and ITN will strongly resist this claim," a spokeswoman for the broadcaster and news company said. It is understood that the claim relates to the video where the Princess of Wales is seen at Windsor Farm Shop, which is close to her Adelaide Cottage home.

The footage is from March 18, 2024. Kate is seen walking with Prince William while carrying a large white bag. Her hair is down and she's wearing a black jacket and leggings. The video was one of the first times she was pictured out in public after her abdominal surgery in January.

While many were speculating after not seeing her out in public since her procedure, Kate announced on March 22, 2024, that she had been diagnosed with cancer. It was discovered during post-operative tests.

The Princess of Wales, who is now undergoing chemotherapy, was photographed before The Sun footage. She was seen near Windsor Castle on March 4, 2024, in the passenger seat of a car.
