Tiger Woods is regarded by many as one of the best professional golfers of all time. He has won countless PGA Tours and championships. Surprisingly, this doesn’t always translate into admiration from his daughter Sam. She isn’t all that into golf. Her brother, Charlie, is a different story. He is following in his dad’s golfing footsteps.
Tiger opened up about this on a May 1, 2024, appearance on Today. He told host Carson Daily about his kids’ divergent opinions. Tiger understands this and bonds with his kids in unique ways.
Tiger shares Sam, 16, and Charlie, 15, with ex-wife Elin Nordegren. Sam doesn’t love golf like her father and brother do. “She has … a negative connotation to the game, because when she was growing up, golf took Daddy away from her,” Tiger explained. “I had to leave, and I’d be gone for weeks. So we developed our own relationship, our own rapport, outside of golf.”
Charlie is another story. “Meanwhile, my son and I do everything golf related,” Tiger stated. Charlie is working his way up in the golf world. In April 2024, Charlie did not advance to the US Open after competing in a qualifying event.

Charlie typically is open to feedback from his dad about his game but lately that has shifted. Tiger is taking this in stride and knows what it's like to be a hormonal teen. "He's 15 years old," he mused. "It's what happens — it's what teenagers go through. They're trying to find their own place in the world."
