Todd Blanche’s Over-The-Top Praise For Donald Trump Has People Calling It ‘Embarrassing’

Todd Blanche’s loyalty to President Donald Trump is actually grossing people out. Pam Bondi’s current (temporary) replacement basically professed his love for the president during a recent press conference, and said that if Trump were to give the job to someone else, he would still thank him and tell him that he loves him. Across social media, people have found this admission totally disturbing.

Blanche is currently acting attorney general.

He also worked as Trump’s defense attorney during his criminal trial in 2024. And if all he ever does is fill in for Bondi before Trump finds someone better, Blanche will still be grateful for his temp role because he loves Trump that much. To many critics, that seems both pathetic and cult-like.

The fact that he called working for Trump “the greatest honor of a lifetime” is also giving people the ick. “As to whether or not I want this job, I did not ask for this job,” Blanche said during a recent press conference. “I love working for President Trump; it’s the greatest honor of a lifetime.”

Basically, any choice Trump makes in the future would be “an honor” to him. He’s apparently lucky to be in Trump’s orbit in any capacity. “And if President Trump chooses to keep me as acting [attorney general], that’s an honor. If he chooses to nominate me, that’s an honor,” Blanche continued. “If he chooses to nominate somebody else and I go back to being the [deputy attorney general], that’s an honor.”

But also no worries if not.

Blanche added, “If he chooses to nominate somebody else and asks me to go do something else, I will say ‘Thank you very much. I love you, sir.’ I don’t have any goals or aspirations beyond that.”

The “I love you, sir” had people thinking, This man cannot be serious. But he did, in fact, seem totally serious. And people are disgusted by it. A clip of Blanche making these comments has been circulating on social media, and of course, Trump critics had a lot to say. “The signature self-humiliation in this cabinet is f—ing embarrassing,” one of them wrote.

“Do you need to see more evidence of what Trump has turned Republican party into a cult?” another person questioned.

People were also confused. Is the bar really that low? “For the rest of my life, I will never understand the power this fraud of a man has over people,” someone else said. “History is going to study this for hundreds of years…. and never understand it.”

Another critic commented, “Wow, he has a pretty low bar of what he considers an honor.”

In addition to being mocked on social media, Blanche was also mocked on TV.

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough could not stop laughing at Blanche. “You saw what the acting attorney general said yesterday to Donald Trump?” Scarborough said. Then, he mocked the way Blanche professed his love for Trump by saying, “‘I love you, I love you even if you fire me, even if you fire me.'”

In the eyes of critics, it might be even worse than when House Speaker Mike Johnson presented Trump with a made-up “America First” award because he “has done so much for the American people.”
