Now that he’s out of prison, Todd Chrisley is reflecting on his time behind bars. He claimed his experience was very different from that of some of his fellow inmates. During press conference on May 30, 2025, Todd highlighted some injustices he observed. He called out the fact that Black inmates were treated differently than he was.
The Chrisley Knows Best star said he “met some wonderful men” while in prison. He also “listened to some horrific stories about things that have gone on in our system.” Because of this, he vows to “continue to fight for all of the guys that I dealt with and that I was blessed to be with at FPC Pensacola.” Additionally, he said he would “continue to expose the injustices that go on there and throughout the Bureau of Prisons.”
Todd suggested that he got better treatment than some of his fellow inmates because of his race. “Being in the prison system, anyone that says that it’s a fair shake, it’s not,” he asserted, per The Hill. “Because I dealt with young African American males in the prison that I was in that were not treated the same.”
“They were denied programming,” he continued. “They were denied access to certain things. I was not denied that, but we know why I wasn’t denied that.”

He urged people to come together and pay attention to injustices like these regardless of political affiliation. “I think that is a much bigger picture that we all as a society, as a whole, need to look at, that we are one,” Todd said. “And whether you’re Republican, Democrat or whatever, at the end of the day when you’re in that hospital, you don’t care if it’s a Democrat treating you or Republican.”
Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were in prison for bank fraud and tax evasion until President Donald Trump pardoned them on May 28. After their release from their respective prisons, their daughter Savannah Chrisley praised Trump. She thanked the president for “truly giving everyone a chance at a better life.”
Savannah wore a pink MAGA cap when she went to pick her dad up from prison. She said the president gives her “hope.” “Yes, he is our president, but he’s also a person with a heart who loves people,” she stated.
