Watching your kids grow up is often bittersweet. For many teenagers, learning to drive is a significant milestone — one that can be both exciting and scary. Recently, Tori Spelling, 51, opened up about how she felt about her 16-year-old daughter learning to drive. Though Tori felt “proud,” she also thought back to years ago when Stella was still riding in a car seat.
In an Instagram post on December 10, 2024, Tori shared that her daughter is officially able to drive because she now has her learner’s permit. “She’s officially on the road with her drivers permit!” Tori wrote. “She worked hard and nailed the written test. Started her driving lessons. And, can now be my personal uber.”
She shared a picture Stella behind the wheel. While it’s great that her daughter is growing up, Tori also reminisced about her daughter’s childhood in the post. “Life moves pretty fast,” Tori reflected. “But, the rewards are amazing all around. I can still picture her in her car seat. Me, checking constantly to make sure she was ok in the back.”
“Now, my view is quite different literally, physically, mentally, and emotionally,” Tori added.

Before she knows it, Stella will be a licensed driver. When Tori’s daughter passed her written test, Tori got emotional. “Couldn’t be more proud of this sweet 16. And, not gonna lie I cried like a baby when she passed,” Tori shared. “Tears of pride. Now, I officially have 6 months till she gets her license to figure out a car situation. I Love you Buggy.”
Tori shares five children with her ex-husband Dean McDermott. On the December 10 episode of her podcast Misspelling, Tori admitted that she stayed with Dean for longer than she should’ve because she thought it would be better for their kids. Eventually, she realized that staying with him for “too long” was not what was best for them. “It ultimately, I feel, did a disservice to my kids,” she admitted.
Previously, Tori opened up about how a divorce announcement that Dean shared on Instagram during an “alcohol spiral” gave her the push she needed.
In June 2023, Dean shared a divorce statement on Instagram after a big fight he had with Tori. However, she had no idea that he planned on posting the statement. Tori felt relieved when she saw the post, even though Dean later deleted it.
“I gotta say, when I saw that post — inside, I was like, ‘Oh, thank God,'” Tori admitted. “Because … I don’t know if I could have done it.”
