Though the Olivia Nuzzi and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. scandal came to light over a year ago now, it continues to get more complicated. After Olivia announced her plans to release a book telling her side of the story, her ex-fiancé started sharing his own version of events via Substack. During his most recent post about the affair, he claimed that an unexpected person was also involved: Tucker Carlson.
If you’re wondering how and why Tucker would be involved, that’s completely fair. In the post, Olivia’s ex-fiancé, Ryan Lizza, doesn’t go into a ton of detail about Tucker’s involvement, but he does reveal that Olivia apparently confided him at some point.
Tucker’s response was exactly what you might expect.
Olivia’s decision to reach out to Tucker might seem like an interesting choice, but the way he reacted to what she told him was not all that surprising. According to Ryan, RFK Jr.’s team, including a “terrifying” security advisor named Gavin de Becker, went through great lengths to keep people from finding out what happened between RFK Jr. and Olivia.
Ryan alleged that Gavin “would occasionally check in on Olivia, according to her friends, just to make sure she remained loyal and was protecting Bobby’s secrets.”
This is where Tucker comes in, for some reason. According to Ryan, “At one point, Olivia told Tucker Carlson about the details of one of de Becker’s calls to her.” Tucker allegedly suggested that Olivia should be afraid, and offered to help her out in his own way. As Ryan put it, “Tucker told her she should fear for her life and offered to send her a shotgun.”
The conservative commentator’s involvement doesn’t end there.
At another point, Olivia also tried to use Tucker as a way to reconnect with Bobby, Ryan claimed. “Olivia wanted Bobby to have proof that she remained loyal and that she continued to lie for him,” he wrote. Tucker, meanwhile, allegedly had his own interesting reasons for being invested in the affair drama.
“Bobby and Tucker, I was reliably told, had dinner during this period, and they debated how high up the plot to destroy Bobby went,” Ryan alleged. “Tucker, by then, was telling people, including Olivia, that Bobby was being blackmailed by Israel.”
According to Ryan, Tucker thought the whole thing was a way to bring President Donald Trump down. “And in terms of conspiracy theorists, he was like the Alex Jones to Bobby’s Oliver Stone,” Ryan explained. “Bobby just thought it was me, possibly working with Olivia. But Tucker thought it was a much grander deep-state plot to destroy Trump by destroying Bobby. He assumed I was just the tip of the spear.”
