A brave man stepped up to defend a woman who experienced sexual assault in broad daylight on a sidewalk in Long Beach, California. The entire incident was caught on video. Rebekah Pedersen said that she was walking to get lunch when she was assaulted.
In the video, she is seen walking down the street when the suspect, 30-year-old Miguel Avila, walks up behind her and proceeds to lift her skirt up. Bystander, Dan Mcintrye, was sitting off to the side when he witnessed the incident and got up to pepper spray the man, who then fled.
"It happened so quickly," Rebekah said. "I kind of tried to like pull away." She said that she was walking to get lunch at the time the incident occurred.
The witness, Dan, was on his break when he saw everything unfold. "He had a horrible look on his face. If I've ever seen demon possession, that was it."

Rebekah had the opportunity to thank Dan for coming to her defense. "I appreciate it. Not many people would have done that." The assaulter was charged with misdemeanor sexual battery. Rebekah is outraged at the charge, and now carries a taser with her for protection. She says she never would have thought she'd need to carry protection in broad daylight.
