Kevin Spacey Found Not Guilty In London Sexual Assault Case After 12 Hours Of Deliberation

Actor Kevin Spacey had two big life events occur on July 26, 2023. He turned 64 years old and was found not guilty on nine counts of alleged sexual assault in Southwark Crown Court in London. When the verdict was read, Kevin cried.

There were initially 12 counts brought against the American Beauty actor, but some were dismissed. The trial lasted a month during which Kevin was accused of aggressive groping and raping four men between 2001 and 2013. The jury took 12 hours to reach its verdict.

Kevin pleaded not guilty to all 12 counts and publicly denied their validity. A relieved Kevin spoke outside the courthouse after the trail’s completion. “I imagine that many of you can understand that there is a lot for me to process after what has happened today but I would like to say that I’m enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts carefully before they reached their decision and I am humbled by the outcome today,” he stated.

He went on to express his gratitude to the people who helped make the verdict possible. “I also want to thank the staff inside this courthouse, the security and all those who took care of us every single day, my legal team, Evan Lowenstein and Lucy for being here every day,” he concluded.

During the trial, Kevin took the stand in his own defense. He claimed his “world exploded” when allegations were first made against him. "I lost my reputation, I lost everything in a matter of days," he stated. He was not the only well-known witness. Elton John and husband David Furnish also testified about their "White Tie and Tiara Ball."

Kevin also faced a civil case in the US in October of 2022 when Anthony Rapp accused him of molestation. He was found not liable for battery. In response to Rapp’s allegations, Kevin came out as a gay man.
