Stanley cups are all the rage these days and no, we are not talking about hockey. It’s the insulated tumblers that people cannot get enough of. One California woman allegedly took this notion too far.
The Roseville Police Department arrested the 23-year-old after she allegedly stole 65 Stanley cups from a store. Her haul was worth $2,500. That is a lot of hydration. She was charged with grand theft for her alleged actions.
Store employees called the police after the woman filled her shopping cart with the coveted cups and proceeded to walk out. She did not respond to employees' pleas for her to stop. She filled up her car and went on her way before police could arrive.
Officers spotted her car and pulled her over. She was arrested on the spot. A search of her car and found 65 of the Stanley cups of various sizes and colors, police say. The woman’s identity has not been released.
“While Stanley Quenchers are all the rage, we strongly advise against turning to crime to fulfill your hydration habits,” the Roseville Police Department joked on Facebook.

Stanley cups have been around since 1913. The brand used to market mainly to men but recently switched things up. Now, the stainless steel cups come in bright colors and have social media influencers recommending them. Most recently, people went nuts for the newest limited edition Valentine’s Day tumblers sold in Target. They cost around $40 to $57 but go for $200 to $300 on resale sites.
