Tennessee Woman Arrested After Trying To Put Out A Hit On Her Former Hiking Partner’s Wife

Online dating can be a tricky minefield to navigate. One has to kiss many frogs to get to a great partner. Sometimes, past matches have a hard time letting go.

David Wallace is learning this the hard way. He matched with Melody Sasser and began hiking with the 47-year-old environmental compliance specialist. While the exact nature of their relationship is unknown, what we do know is Melody did not appreciate it when David married Jennifer. Melody was arrested on May 18, 2023, after allegedly attempting to hire someone online to kill Jennifer.

Melody allegedly used the site Online Killers Market under the pseudonym “Cattree.” Police say on January 11, she paid for the deed in bitcoin worth $9,750. She gave exact instructions to leave no trail leading back to her.

She allegedly instructed: “This needs to appear to be random or accident. Or plant drugs, don’t want a lengthy investigation.” She wanted her hands to appear clean. Maybe she planned on sweeping David off of his feet while he was grieving.

Thankfully, Melody’s orders were never carried out. On April 27 the Department of Homeland Security got involved to protect Jennifer and David and investigate who was behind the death threats. Investigators were able to follow the money and link it back to Melody. She could now spend 10 years in prison if convicted.
