The tale of a woman embracing the father of the girl whose heart now beats within her chest.

Katherine was born with a rare heart disorder and during her life, she has had to have numerous heart surgeries. Overall, she has had more than 20 heart procedures, including a heart transplant when she was only 21 years old.

“I have a job, I’m back in school, it’s things that nothing would have been able to happen without that gift.” At the beginning of the video, you see Katherine hugging Desiree’s dad, and you can clearly see the love he feels just from being close to his daughter’s heart once again.
Katherine also reassured Desiree’s family that their daughter’s heart is doing what it needs to be doing and is “kicking hard in there.” Desiree was from West Virginia and was only 39 when she died. Being a registered organ donor, she helped save five lives, including Katherine's.
