Alicia Silverstone has opened up about her personal parenting practices, and it seems that not everyone knows what to make of her most recent admission. While speaking on The Ellen Fisher Podcast, Alicia revealed that she and her 11-year-old son still share a bed.
Alicia explained that for her, co-sleeping with her tween is just the natural thing to do.
Alicia said that the two are just "following nature" and explained, "Bear and I still sleep together. If you were in any kind of wild setting where there are animals … if you put your baby over there, your baby is going to get eaten. It's not ideal for the baby to be over there."
Alicia also called motherhood "divine" and described the journey as "the most precious, most unbelievable experience in this world." She went on to admit that at one point, she hoped to have several more children, but things just didn't work out that way for her.
It turns out that things just came down to bad timing. She said, "I wanted to have more [kids], but then my relationship got messed up, and it wasn't a great time to bring one in. I didn't want to have one right away because I was so in love with my Bear."
She added, "I wanted to squeeze every little moment out of him, so it wasn't until he was like 3 that I was ready to make another baby and then I didn't have a partner, so that's why I don't have four babies."
This isn't the first time that a parenting admission by Alicia has caught people off guard. In late 2020, she revealed on Instagram that her son had recently cut his long hair, saying, "My baby's growing up I miss his hair!!!!! Was it his decision? Yes. Did I cry inside as I watched him get it cut? Maybe … but did I try to stop him? Not for one second."
And back in 2012, Alicia startled several people when she shared that she was in the habit of pre-chewing her son's food for him. She wrote on her blog, "I fed Bear the mochi and a tiny bit of veggies from the soup…from my mouth to his. It’s his favorite…and mine."
