Children Burned One Month Apart Meet At Camp And Get Married 18 Years Later

Children are always very aware of how they look — much like adults. They learn at an early age what makes them look different from everyone else. Maybe it's the color of their hair, maybe it's the shape of their nose.

But some kids are embarrassed, even ashamed of these differences, especially if they were inflicted upon them. They learn from the looks and the stares they get that they are different, and not necessarily in a way they are comfortable with.

This how many children who are burn victims feel. They carry the scars of a horrific accident or injury they sustained. They know that there are not many like them.

But at burn camps, these children can find peers and friends who have been through the same type of trauma. They meet, bond, and exchange stories.

And some of them, like Seth and Stephanie Shingleton, fall in love.

The couple meet 18 years ago at an Oklahoma burn camp, and each knew what the other one was going though. With other kids, they created memories to last a lifetime.

But the two held onto one another and recently took a huge step: they got married!

This is only further proof that these extraordinary places can do wonders for suffering children — and maybe help them grow into adults along the way.
