The Chinese gender predictor, widely believed to have been found in an ancient Chinese tomb, is not just one of the most popular gender tests, it's also touted as one of the most accurate.
Supposedly, all you have to do is jot down your age at conception and the month of conception, and boom, the chart reveals the gender of your baby.
The Chinese gender predictor chart is appealing because you can refer to it at any point in your pregnancy. Heck, you can even consult it before you are pregnant if you’re aiming for a particular gender!
How To Use The Chinese Gender Predictor Chart
When you go to use the Chinese gender chart, you will quickly find that there are two versions floating around the internet, along with many myths about the history of the chart.
The simpler version, shown above, requires you to enter your age at conception and the month of conception. Afterward, just follow across to determine your baby’s gender.
There’s another, slightly more complicated version that asks you to convert your age to a Chinese age, and the solar year to the lunar year.
However, according to a study conducted by Paediatric and Perinatal Epidemiology, ages and months of conception that were not changed to the lunar calendar did not substantially alter the results.
So don’t worry! Look at our easy-to-use chart above, then enter your age at conception and the month when your baby was conceived. If you don’t know the month, you can either consult your doctor or use a due-date calculator to figure it out backward from your estimated due date.
How Accurate Is The Chinese Gender Chart?
Although there are websites that claim the Chinese gender predictor is over 90 percent accurate, we found the chart to be similar to other methods… though more fun than anything else. In the same study from Paediatric and Perinatal Epidemiology, which included nearly 3 million babies, the results indicated that this method is no better at predicting the sex of a baby than a coin toss.

Other Gender Predictors You Can Try
There are lots of other gender tests that you can do for fun, like the similar-in-nature Mayan pregnancy calendar; the ring test, where you swing a ring over your pregnant belly to see if it swings in a circle (girl!) or back and forth (boy!); the red-cabbage test, where you add urine to cabbage water and see if the color changes to pink (boy!) or stays purple (girl!); or even the baking soda gender test.
