Dad Finds Out He Has A Deadly Tumor After Seeing His Symptoms On Facebook

Father of two Tom Walker suddenly found himself suffering from dizziness terrible headaches, and was perplexed as to why. He even started having mood swings, which were uncommon for him.

His symptoms got worse, until he couldn't stand steadily on his own two feet.

Initially thinking that he had an infection of sorts, Walker didn't think that anything he had could be worse than that. The 36-year-old certainly did not suspect that he had a tumor growing in his brain.

Luckily, Walker came across a post on Facebook: a friend posted on social media about how her daughter found out that she had a brain tumor. It turned out that she had suffered from the same symptoms as the father, so he decided to pay a visit to the doctor, just to be sure.

After a few tests, it was confirmed: the Welsh dad has a 6 centimeter tumor growing in his brain, which could have been deadly had it been caught later, or if he had waited to see his doctor. Luckily, with 6 weeks of radiotherapy, and surgery, Walker is in the clear!

Early detection – all thanks to a Facebook post – saved his life.

"For those of you who don't already know. Back in February I was diagnosed with a potentially life threatening Brain Tumour. The reason I am posting this on here is not for sympathy, but to raise awareness. If it hadn't been for others posting about similar experiences on Facebook I wouldn't have pushed for a scan, and may not be here today!"

"Initially I experienced dizzy spells and was diagnosed with Vertigo, but when I started getting headaches and nausea I remembered something I had read on here and asked my GP to refer me for a scan. When the scan revealed the Tumour I automatically feared the worst!"

"Fortunately I had an amazing surgeon who managed to open up my skull, go in and remove the Tumour! (and all without shaving my head!)

Thankfully the Tumour was a low grade, but I still underwent 6 weeks of Radiotherapy at Velindre Hospital, when I did end up losing a decent amount of hair!"

"A recent follow up scan was clear of any Tumour, which is great news! But I have been warned that it may still return, so I will be monitored closely with regular scans."

"If you or any of your loved ones are putting off going to the doctors for any reason, DON'T! The sooner these things are found the better the chances are of beating it!"
