If you've ever had the pleasure of watching a baby grow, then you know how exciting that first year is. Parents.com explains that, each month, an infant usually gains about two pounds while growing between 1 to 1.5 inches. That means plenty of photo opportunities, and everyone is eager to see your little bundle of joy's progress.
Brad Williams, a new dad from Philadelphia, recently shared his son's growth in a unique — and delicious — way.
When Brad's son, Lucas, was about 2 weeks old, the dad realized his baby was about the same size as the cheesesteak he had brought home for dinner. Brad took a photo of the boy, using that cheesesteak for scale.
He then continued to do so every month to track Lucas' size compared to the cheesesteak. It may sound simple, but Brad's little project ended up making an adorable, memorable photo series that Lucas can one day enjoy for himself.

Brad tells LittleThings, "This happened completely by chance. As new parents, there was little sleep and a lot of takeout the first few months of our son's life."
The dad goes on, "One night we ordered takeout, and I noticed my dinner, which was a cheesesteak, was very close in size to my son."
When Brad posted his first cheesesteak photo to Facebook, his friends and family couldn't get enough.
After that, Brad explains, "A new tradition was born!"
Lucas continued to grow, but the good old cheesesteak stayed the same. In fact, it's almost the perfect control for something like this!
Cheesesteaks are also a Philadelphia delicacy. They even have their own dedicated section on VisitPhilly.com.
This makes Brad's project the perfect combination of food, fatherhood, and hometown pride.
Brad admits that his wife thought the whole thing was "ridiculous" at first.
She soon came around, though. "She started to really love it after the first couple pictures."
Overall, Brad says it was a "fun way to track our son's growth, and everyone really enjoyed it!"
