Mook is 44 years old. He has sported a thick beard for 14 years. No one has seen him without it, not his children or even his wife.
"My kids have never seen me without it, neither has my wife Limor. I'm very worried. Loss of virility. Loss of intimidation power," Mook jokes.
A man's facial hair can be deeply tied to his identity. When women cut their hair short or shave it off, they often cry. Men aren't any different about their beards.
Though the beard looks pretty average, without it, he is completely transformed. His own mother and twin sister don't recognize him. He sneaks up on them at a shop, and it takes them a little too long to realize who's speaking to them!
He calls out, "Dad!" and then, his father literally walks right past him. Right. Past. Him. The two men even have an entire conversation before Dad realizes!
This reminds me of when a self-described "cave man" got a drastic makeover that turned him from a neanderthal to a super model.
After he first shaved, the father from Israel says it was "five minutes of shock. Bitter weeping for half an hour. Then, acceptance."
Perhaps, the most beautiful moment is when his daughter sees him for the first time and calls him "a new daddy."
"If my daughter says, 'Dad, I want you to stay like this,' I will for as long as she likes," he says.
