Elephants are huge — which makes sense, because they bring a ton of fun into our lives. They regularly melt our hearts with their compassion, amaze us with their apparent appreciation of music, and stun us with their wisdom.
They certainly aid in our enjoyment, but what happens when an elephant needs us for their happiness?
For instance, take this poor baby elephant in a Chinese nature reserve that fell into an empty water storage pit. He found himself trapped, alone, and scared. Plus, it had recently rained, and the edges of the pit were muddy and slippery, making it difficult for him to get his footing and climb his way out.
After a few attempts on his own to get out of the pit, he found himself exhausted, gave up, and began to cry. Local villagers in the nearby Yunnan Province heard the tired tyke’s sad squeals and rushed to his rescue.
One man came with a hoe — just one simple man with one simple tool — and used it in the most amazing way.
