Pregnancy can be hard on women — not just physically, but emotionally as well. Their bodies change to accommodate another person, but they also have to adjust mentally to the idea of welcoming a child into the world.
In today’s social media world, pregnant women are constantly shown images of how they should look, what they should feel, and how they should live their lives. Women who have access to photographers, gorgeous outfits, and stunning lighting share perfect pictures of their pregnancies — and it leaves other moms-to-be feeling inadequate.
Here are these beautiful women with professional-looking hair and makeup, perfect little baby bumps, and amazing outfits. But many pregnant women spend those months sick, moody, and feeling uncomfortable in their own bodies.
These Instagram famous pregnant women don’t show themselves lounging around all day in sweats, even if that’s what they actually do.

So one expecting mom got real and shared the reality of being a pregnant woman. Yemaya, a yoga enthusiast and mom-to-be, shared this message with her friends and followers:

I truly love being pregnant but there are days where my confidence seems to get low. Getting dressed seems to be a task, especially when trying to find clothes that actually fit me & look good.

I've got stretch marks on my growing boobs after being a tiny A cup for so long. I can't see certain parts of my body so easily anymore.

My feet are a little swollen. My back and hips hurt. My uterus feels heavy (obviously lol). My skin is stretching. I can barely get up from sitting down on my own. I even have to modify my yoga practice. And some days, I don't feel at all sexy or cute. Not to mention I get tired so easily and at the most random times.

I'm staying light & reminding myself that I'm beautiful no matter what & also giving myself credit. My body is creating a whole life, a human being. It's working the hardest it's ever worked.

Just want to encourage the other expecting mamas/veteran mamas to remind yourself of your own beauty when you don't feel it. Give yourself credit for all that you do & are doing.
