Glee actress Lea Michele is going to be a mom! Lea and husband Zandy Reich just confirmed the news to People. A source told the outlet, "They've always wanted to be parents." It's definitely welcome news for the happy couple, who have been together for about two years and seem to be very happy and in love.
Lea, 33, is best known for her performance as Rachel Berry in the much-loved Fox musical series, which she starred in from 2009 until 2015. She earned recognition as an incredibly talented actress and singer. She also received an Emmy nomination and two Golden Globe nominations for the role.
Lea has had tons of other roles on screen, but she actually began her career as a child actress performing on Broadway. Zandy Reich, 37, is an entrepreneur and business owner.
The couple started dating back in July 2017. Zandy proposed to Lea the following April, and Lea joyfully announced it on Instagram by sharing with a photo of herself showing off her beautiful ring.
“Yes,” she wrote in the caption, which also included a diamond ring emoji. Lea shared that her friends and coworkers approved of the romance. On the red carpet, she said Ryan Murphy, whom she worked with on Glee, was a fan of her boyfriend, which meant a lot to her.
“When my boyfriend got the seal of approval from Ryan Murphy, that was it,” she joked on the Emmys red carpet in September 2017. “Yeah my parents, yeah friends, whatever. But Ryan Murphy, it’s a done deal — it sealed the deal.”
It was likely especially heartwarming to have her coworkers approve of her then-boyfriend because of Lea's past heartbreak. She dated costar Cory Monteith until his tragic death back in 2013. The two had fallen in love while filming. He played the hunky jock who stole her heart onscreen. In real life, their romance was blooming, too.
After Cory's death, the whole cast felt the loss deeply. Just this January, Lea appeared on the podcast Showmance, and she reflected on the start of the show and her romance with Cory. "We were just, like, so happy," she said of the early days of filming. "We were really having the time of our lives," she added.
Now it seems like Lea's heart has healed. She married Zandy in March 2019. The couple had about 200 guests witness their nuptials at a ceremony in North Carolina. Some of the guests included Lea's costars in Glee Darren Criss and Becca Tobin, as well as her Scream Queens costar Emma Roberts.
“We are so excited to be married and grateful to be surrounded by our friends and family,” the couple told People at the time. “And most of all, we’re so happy to spend the rest of our lives together.”
A guest said of the intimate ceremony, “It was as if nobody else was there."
The newlyweds then went on a tropical honeymoon. Just a few weeks ago, they celebrated their one-year anniversary. Lea shared a sweet video from their wedding day to commemorate their special day.
Now, like everyone else, the couple is hunkered down for the time being. Lea has been sharing updates on social media. In a recent image, she expressed gratitude. "Grateful for this moment in the sun," she wrote. She also sent love and well-wishes to everyone during this tough time.
Lea obviously had a bit more to be grateful for than she was letting on at the time. But now that we're in the know that she's expecting, hopefully we'll get to see more updates soon. Maybe even some belly pics!
It seems like Lea is feeling strong and healthy as she grows her new addition. She took to Instagram to share a reminder about how important it is for both your mind and body to stay active while at home. Of course, she has a bit of extra motivation to keep herself healthy now.
We can't wait to hear more about this star's baby on the way!
