Have you ever wanted to be a fly on the wall at a royal family gathering?
It's fascinating to consider what one of the world's most famous families is like behind closed doors. When they gather together, they can let their guard down, at least a little bit.
Right now, the royals can't exactly gather together. Health concerns have kept them apart for the majority of the last six months. Reportedly, they are staying in touch via Zoom and via text.
That got us thinking: What would a royal family group text look like? They definitely exist, and there's definitely a lot of them. Mike Tindall confirmed as much a few years back when he mentioned that some of Zara's cousins are in a WhatsApp group chat.
A group text between Charles, William, and Harry might be hilarious on one hand. On the other hand, a group text between the royal ladies could be a bona fide shade fest!
With all that in mind, let's imagine what some recent royal family group text conversations might look like.
The KFC Tweet
Early on Friday, KFC UK & Ireland tweeted out a photo of William peering into a store window.
"William whispered quietly to himself; 'Oh, I just can't wait to be wing,'" KFC tweeted.
"I'm sad I didn't call him His Royal Thighness in the main tweet tbh."
It would have dropped first thing in the morning on Los Angeles time, so you know Harry would have reached out to his brother. For fun, why not loop in dear old dad? Imagine just how hard William got … roasted … for that one.
Christmas Zoom Plans
If things keep going the way they have been, it seems very possible the royals will be apart for the holidays. Harry and Meghan were due to make a return to the UK after the holidays for her to appear in court for her case against Mail on Sunday. The trial was set to begin on January 11, so they were expected to arrive in time to quarantine before the appearance.
Meanwhile, the Queen is struggling to keep her annual Christmas at Sandringham alive.
Ever determined, Elizabeth will surely move ahead with her invitations. Then the royals will ever gently try to deliver the letdown. Except, of course, for her favorite grandson, who will always do what it takes to keep Granny happy.
Baby Titles
Recently, it was revealed that Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are expecting their first child. It's widely believed that their little bundle of joy will not get a title, making her one of several royals to opt against. We can't help but wonder what her cousins would think of that.
Cambridge Kids Meet With David Attenborough
The Cambridge kids recently got the chance to meet Sir David Attenborough after William and Sir David attended an outdoor screening of Sir David's upcoming feature film David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet. The special is on Netflix, which is apparently a frenemy of the royal family.
The video was so sweet that we imagine Meghan might compliment it. Harry, ever the one to stand up for his own family, might be inclined to point that whole Netflix thing out. We'd trust the ladies to bring the cool in this situation.
Meghan's Leather Pants on 'America's Got Talent'
Do you think a royal group text could be petty? With the right members, we bet it would. Just knowing a thing or two about the royal family, there's a good chance all their gossip would be directed at Harry and Meghan's adventures in the US.
Recently, Meghan appeared on America's Got Talent to cheer on a contestant. The segment was filmed from their Montecito home, and Meghan was rocking some awesome leather pants. While we love them, they're not exactly what the royals are used to …
'The Crown' Binge Watch
Besides Meghan and Harry, do you ever wonder which other members of the royal family watch The Crown? We've got evidence that there are a few. Queen Elizabeth was said to have enjoyed the first season but took issue with Philip's portrayal in the second. Camilla also reportedly watches but is afraid of what's to come.
Princess Eugenie even confessed to the guilty pleasure in an interview with the Daily Mail.
"I did watch a couple of episodes of The Crown. It is filmed beautifully. The music is wonderful, the story is beautiful," she said.
"You feel very proud to watch it. I can't speak for everyone, but that's how I felt when I watched it."
So if I had to imagine a binge-watch group text, I think it'd go a little something like this. Then again, I could be wrong about any or all of these. We won't know until the royal family invites me to their WhatsApp group, I suppose … wink wink, nudge nudge, text me.
