Young Dancer Honors His Late Father With ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Audition

My mom has nicknames for me that she uses as terms of endearment or, more often, a sassy way to poke fun at me. The one I hear most frequently is "Grace," a moniker used in irony due to my apparently incurable clumsiness. I am constantly covered with bruises and only know where they came from about half the time, if I'm lucky. My complete lack of spatial awareness has only gotten worse over the years, but I've learned to, at least, lessen the damage to those around me.

If only I had as much control over my body as the young man busting a move in the video below!

Leon Akida Burns, known simply as "Kida", is a 13-year-old from Sacramento, CA. He comes from a large family with two brothers and four sisters, all of whom love to dance. His oldest brother taught each of the siblings their foundation, but it's Kida's natural gift for the art that really makes him special.

Unfortunately, the family dealt with the heavy blow of loss when Kida's father, Leon, passed away from a flu virus in 2014. In a prerecorded interview, Kida describes him as a "very hard-working man" who continues to inspire him thanks to a note they found in one of his coat pockets after his death. It read, "keep prayin, keep plannin, keep pushin."

The powerful words helped Kida make his way to the So You Think You Can Dance studio, where he hoped to win over the judges with his skills.

Take a look below to see their priceless reactions when he struts his stuff.

And don't forget to SHARE with your family and friends if you're stunned by his talent!
