Shortly after Ryan Aprea's birth, his parents learned that he was deaf, so they decided to get him a cochlear implant. Due to medical concerns, he had to wait until after his second birthday to be fitted. Finally, Ryan had cochlear implant surgery in November, and his mom, Jennifer, wasn’t sure what to expect when the device was activated a month later. His parents decided to film the moment the device was turned on, and his reaction is priceless.
In the video, mom says, "Hi, Buddy," to Ryan. His response? His face lights up, and he bursts into a fit of giggles. This had to be the most amazing feeling for Ryan's parents because they couldn't have asked for a better response. (Ryan was born in October 2012 when he was just 25 weeks old and spent seven months in an intensive care unit before being allowed to return home with his family.)
