Li Huanne and Zhao Yuchun are saints. They have gone above and beyond for a little girl, who has now become their daughter, when no one ever asked them to.
About 16 years ago, Li was working as a cleaner at a hospital in the Shanxi Province in China. She saw a tiny baby abandoned in the hospital hallway. Fearing the child would die, Li brought the little girl home. Fortunately, thanks to the couple's love and devotion, Likun didn't pass away.
"As long as she lives one more day, I will take care of her," said Li.
The parents quickly discovered their new daughter had cerebral palsy. Likun cannot chew her own food, so the process of feeding her take a long time, around two hours for each meal.
The food would get cold when they would mash it manually, so Zhao Yuchun began chewing it to keep it warm when it passed through her throat. Likun prefers eating this way.
While many may find this act unusual, others see it as an act of devotion and love. Likun was the little girl that no one wanted, the little girl that was left for dead, Zhao and Li are the parents that will stop at nothing to take care of her.
"No matter what, I will raise her. If I give up, she will die," says Zhao Yuchun. "Her parents gave up on her. I can't do that."
