Children having to go through major surgeries is devastating.
We all know that children should be living their life, and enjoying every second of it. They should never have to come into the world with struggles.
They're supposed to be growing and learning, with happiness being their main emotion and biggest concern, at all times.
When you meet Macey Collins, you'll quickly realize that she embodies the happiness that we think of when on the topic of children.
But, what makes that so amazing, is that she maintains that happiness throughout some devastating medical situations.
When Macey was born, she had clubfoot. So, at a certain age she started having surgeries to try to repair that disability, so that she could walk normally on her own.
Until the preparation of one surgery included an X-ray — an X-ray which showed that Macey was also missing a bone in her right leg.
When doctors found out, they gave Macey and her family two options.
One: Continue on with surgeries that might end up hurting more than helping. Or two: Amputate her leg altogether.
Macey decided for herself: "Cut it off, I don't want it." And at 7 years old she's already much braver than I'll ever be.
