How much would you expect to be billed for giving birth in the United States? One could only assume that having just one child is expensive. But what would you think the costs would be for having twins? Or triplets?
One mom took to TikTok to reveal the giant medical bill she received after giving birth to triplets, who had to stay in the NICU for a while. And you won't believe how much she's talking. Almost $2 million! Kate Sulovski opened up in a now-viral video that has garnered over 250K views.
"$1.7 million is what the hospital billed us for myself and my triplets' stay," she started the video off. She then went on to reveal that the particular amount was only for the duration of their stay in the hospital, which included her seven-day stay and her triplets' NICU stay (two of them were in there for 20 days and one was in for 23 days).
"That doesn't include any of my prenatal care, any of my high-risk speciality visits, nothing," she said. "That is strictly for our hospital stay."

She revealed that the cost of the hospital stay for one of her sons was roughly $600,000, while the cost for the other two sons was around $500,000 each. Her stay was around $100,000.
"All I can say is thank God for good insurance," Kate went on. "I cannot imagine what we would be dealing with right now if we did not have really good insurance."
"Yeah, it's rough out there," she concluded. "I just could not believe the bills as they started rolling in. We thought it was gonna be a lot. Didn't think it would be almost $2 million a lot."
In an interview with People, Kate shared that a handful of other NICU moms shared the same experience, whether they had only one child or multiple.
"Dang! A friend’s daughter was born at 23 weeks," one person commented under the post. "$14 million baby!"
People from other countries were shocked by the bill.
"It cost me like $12 to have my son in New Zealand… (was for parking)," one person wrote.
Another user shared: "4 babies, no insurance. $0 in Australia. Maybe $20 on cafeteria food ♀️where did you guys go so wrong ."
Other people expressed outright that they wouldn't pay the bill.
"And that a joke?" one person wondered. "I would throw those bills right in the garbage."
"Y’all gotta learn to wait seven years ," someone else chimed in. "As long as you pay all your other bills girl you’re good ."
