They always say to be wary of what you buy on Craigslist, but one mother recently learned that lesson the hard way.
Socorro Hernandez is a single mother of four, and after her family's minivan broke down, she was in desperate need of a new car. She needed something big and something reliable.
Hernandez needed a big car to take her daughter, who is bound to a wheelchair, to and from her doctor appointments. After looking online, she thought she had found the perfect deal for a car on Craigslist.
Someone had listed a 2009 Honda Pilot that looked to be in great condition for $6,000. After paying the seller, when she went to transfer the title into her name, she found out the car had been stolen.
The stolen car had to be returned to the dealer, Clear Lake Infiniti. Hernandez was out $6,000 and now had no car to show for it. But once the dealer's general manager, Billy Frank, heard what happened to the Hernandez family, he knew they needed to step in.
He believed that since she technically paid for the car, it belonged to her! Hernandez did wind up scoring a major deal, as the car is actually valued at $20,000, but thanks to the gracious dealership, she only paid the original $6,000.
If you enjoyed this, then you will love this mother being surprised with her own car after staying in a transitional home.
