One of the most common rules in journalism is not allowing yourself to become a part of the story you're reporting on. That distance is vital to remain unbiased in all coverage.
However, some news folk still like to break the rules when it comes to romance. One man cleverly tricked his girlfriend into reading her own proposal on the air, while over at another network, the weatherman took his favorite anchorwoman by surprise when he got down on one knee.
When Green Bay area reporter Evan Kruegel decided it was time to pop that big question to his girlfriend, Rachel, he also got some help from his station's crew. Rachel had previously made it clear that she didn't want him to propose on a Jumbotron screen, but as Evan points out, never vetoed him doing so live on the air!
It begins like a normal report from location, but when Even starts describing the story as one that's been "developing for a number of years," explaining it features a boy and girl who fell in love.
He then realizes it would be easier to show his fellow anchors and viewers at home rather than tell them, and soon, he's off running through the rain.
First, he has to stop to pick up some flowers as cameramen follow him along the way.
Take a look to see when he arrives at Rachel's workplace. She clearly wasn't expecting this at all!
And don't forget to SHARE their sweet moment with your loved ones.
