Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis have been hit with a lawsuit from their former nanny, who alleges that the couple's recent separation has caused her severe anxiety. Their previous employee claims to be suffering from a range of negative emotions since the split, including severe anxiety. She's made other claims about the famous couple in the past.
The former couple's nanny is now seeking compensation due to what she believes was an unjustified dismissal following the Hollywood stars' breakup.
In 2018, Ericka Genaro started working for Wilde and Sudeikis as their nanny to look after their two young kids. The lawsuit filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday alleges that Genaro started experiencing severe anxiety in November 2020 when Wilde suddenly moved out of their shared home. According to the legal documents, Genaro was left feeling confused, sad, and hopeless after being dismissed.
According to Yahoo Entertainment, the lawsuit states, "Although this shared trauma created a bond between Genaro and Sudeikis, Genaro became increasingly anxious and stressed with Sudeikis' tendency to seemingly require Genaro to stay up at night after the kids were put to bed to talk, whereas that dynamic did not occur before Wilde's absence."
The lawsuit goes on to say, "The subject matter of these late-night conversations with Sudeikis naturally evolved to speaking about Wilde which Genaro felt compelled to engage in despite creating extreme anxiety to her as she ostensibly felt she had to 'pick sides' between the parents of the children she was ostensibly the primary caretaker."
Genaro alleges the pressure of "being the primary caretaker of the children" and "filling in" for Wilde "became debilitating." She claims she experienced severe anxiety from the situation in the household, which "became close to unbearable" in the weeks after Wilde left.
Genaro has filed a discrimination complaint with the state of California through the Civil Rights Department. She's seeking an unspecified amount in damages for wrongful termination, lost earnings, and deferred compensation, among other losses.
Last October, Wilde and Sudeikis made a joint statement to address their former nanny's claims. According to Yahoo Entertainment, their statement said, "As parents, it is incredibly upsetting to learn that a former nanny of our two young children would choose to make such false and scurrilous accusations about us publicly. Her now 18 month long campaign of harassing us, as well as loved ones, close friends and colleagues, has reached its unfortunate apex. We will continue to focus on raising and protecting our children with the sincere hope that she will now choose to leave our family alone."
Wilde and Sudeikis are still discussing custody over their two children — Otis, 8 years old, and Daisy, 6 years old — while working together to co-parent in the midst of this new lawsuit.
